You’ve all done an extraordinary job this year!
17 July 2007
Dear I-960 supporter:
We’ve been absolutely blown away with everyone's willingness to help ensure the success of this year's Initiative 960. Collecting 314,000+ voter signatures in less than five months is nothing short of remarkable. Since the requirement is 225,000, there's no doubt the voters will be voting on I-960 in November. And as we repeatedly predicted, the lawsuits by I-960's opponents was laughed out of court on Friday.
We spent a lot on mailings to supporters, providing them with petitions and campaign updates. Our volunteers did a fantastic job gathering signatures; we really appreciate your hard work. We spent a lot on compensating people to go out and gather signatures. Voters were lining up to sign I-960's petitions so it's clear that I-960 has broad support among the citizenry. Funding signature drives costs a lot of money and we wouldn’t have enough without your strong, consistent support.
It has been my greatest pleasure working with so many heroic supporters this year. I respect and admire all of you for your enthusiasm and determination to make a difference. By working together, we've provided the voters with a tremendous opportunity to send a powerful message to Olympia. Our success is a direct reflection of your commitment and loyalty.
Frankly, we don’t say “thank you” often enough. But you really are appreciated by us. Washington’s taxpayers are incredibly fortunate that you’ve been willing to provide our campaign with the tens of thousands of volunteer man-hours and the critical financial resources to get the job done.
Again, Initiative 960 has nearly 100,000 more voter signatures than are necessary to qualify. Such a huge number has already had a huge impact on the politicians. They're shell-shocked right now.
I-960 is a smart, balanced, reasonable measure whose policies will benefit taxpayers for years to come. Thanks to you, the voters will have the opportunity to vote on it in November.
Again, congratulations on getting I-960 on the ballot - we look forward to working with all of you to get it approved by voters. As for our compensation fund, we would be extremely grateful for any financial assistance you can offer. Thanks.
